It's A Boy!!!

Zachariah Martin Malecek was born today, October 1, 2008, at 10:21am.

He measured in at 8# 7oz and 21 1/2 in long.

We of course are still at the hospital and kinda tuckered out, but my sisters are already asking for pictures so I wanted to post this ASAP, and luckily I brought the laptop and we have internet connection in our hospital room. I'll write more when we get home and settled. Everything went well and our little Zach is a delight already.

Over Due!

Well, my last posting was last Sunday I think, with intentions that by this Sunday I could be putting up pictures and bragging about our new little Malecek, but it looks like it wants to stay inside it's Mommy. We keep telling it that Daddy and Gracie want to be able to hold it too... but it doesn't seem to work. So here we are 6 days past the due date. I have been trying to stay active in hopes that this will bring on labor. Gracie and I go for a walk every evening, in which I push her in the stroller down our gravel road. You would think that would work... but so far, nothing! So I guess we wait some more. My doctor appt is Tuesday, so if I am still pregnant at that time I assume we will come up with a plan to make this baby arrive. The only saving grace about the whole situation is that the weather is cooler and as the baby has moved down into my pelvis a little the backaches I was getting a couple of weeks ago have sort-of gone away. So I guess I should be thank-ful for that.

Gracie was dressed today to help cheer on those Vikings with her Daddy. She looked so cute in her jersey I had to show her off.

2 days to go... for Baby #2!

Well, the due date for Malecek baby #2 is this coming Tuesday! As of right now there are no signs or symptoms of the upcoming labor... but I keep hoping it will be sooner than later. These last days can really take a tole, but all worth it in the end of course. We do not know if it is a boy or girl, kinda hoping for that boy, but we will of course take either.

I wanted to get a few pictures posted before life gets really busy... with 2 kids, a dog, and a husband.

This is Gracie this morning actually. We went to 8 am church (can't be late for that Vikes game) and then came home and made a pancake, egg, and bacon breakfast. Gracie is pretty good at giving the "baby" or my tummy kisses and hugs... which is what the picture is below. I don't think she really understands that there is a baby in Mommy's tummy... but I do think she realizes that I have a rather big tummy. So below this is what a just-about 40 week pregnant Terri looks like.

Yesterday I was in my bedroom putting sheets on my bed and I knew Gracie was in the living room playing... which I thought was great, because then doing a little job like making the bed can go much faster. But after awhile it was a little to quite and I come out to find what I thought was my "good little girl" on top of the dining room table playing with matches, a candle, and a basket of fruit, throwing them on the floor. She is quite the climber I have found out.

September 5th was Marty and I's 5 year Wedding Anniversary. We celebrated by going to a dinner and show at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater. Grandma Betty baby-sat for us. We realized this was the first "date" we have had since Gracie was born... pretty sad huh? Oh, well, we had a good time and the show kept us laughing. It is amazing 5 years has already passed. Sometimes it seems like it was only a few months ago we got married, yet it seems like we have always been together... I guess that is a good thing.

About a month ago we got the baby swing out... and of course Gracie wants desperately to swing in it, so I put her in it and let it swing away. She had a book she was playing with and about 10 minutes into the ride I look over to find her sound to sleep with the swing still going and the book in her lap! It was so cute.

Gracie has also been practicing how to take care of her baby dolls. I wonder if she will be this helpful to her soon coming sibling? I have a feeling we are going to see a lot of jealousy!

Gracie Videos

Here a couple of videos of Gracie. They are about a month old... but better late than never. I am not sure why I keep turning the camera, but I still haven't figured out how to turn the video once it is uploaded... so you'll have to watch them sideways.

The first one is Gracie walking with my slippers. She has this facination with shoes, always wants to put them on, and always wants other people to have there shoes on. The second one is of her dancing... which she loves to do when music comes on.

Harddrive Crash

To all of you who read the blog... we had a problem with our harddrive on our desktop computer. We have to replace it. This is troublesome because our e-mail was set up through an outlook account saved on the harddrive, which means our address book is no longer available to us. We still have the same e-mail address, but are just accessing it differently now. So unless you have e-mailed us in the last week we don't have your e-mail address. My request is that you send us an e-mail so we can get your address! That little baby is to come soon, and I want to be able to share the news with everyone! Also I had an excel spreadsheet that had everyones post office mailing address on it to, which is now lost. Could you also send that to me too? This shows the importance of having a back-up file. Thanks!

Our New Nephew

Joseph Gabriel Cornish

was born Tuesday, August 26, 2008 around noon.

He weighed in at 7 lbs, 15 oz.

Shelly and him came home only one day after the birth... she says those nurses didn't let her get any sleep over night or any alone time... so she was getting out of there! Darn Nurses! Both Shelly and Joseph are doing great, as are Jesse and Jesse.

Shelly and Jesse decided to have baptism at their home 2 days after Joseph was born. It was simple and actually very special... just like Baptism should be... just the Word and Water. We are happy to have Joe be a part of God's family.
I am Joseph's Godmother and Jesse's brother Luke is Joseph's Godfather.

I thought I would add this picture too... a couple of weeks ago we had the "Sohre" relations over for a pool party... these are the grandchildren at that time, but of course it is outdated now.

As for me I have 25 days left until my due date... I don't think it will come fast enough. This last month is a tough one... but after seeing little Joe today... I am reassured that it is all worth it. It is just amazing that a little baby like that is in me right now moving around and kicking me, and if it was born it would most likely be ok.

Lake Vermillian Vacation 2008

Two weeks ago we took our summer vacation to Lake Vermillian, MN (north of Duluth). This year it was our family, my Mom and Dad, and Christy's family: Ted, Carter, Maddy, Paige, and Kate. We had a WONDERFUL time and very much enjoyed spending time with each other. The weather was pretty good. Gracie got to play in the water almost every day. Fishing wasn't the best, but we had a couple of meals. We also played mini golf one morning, went to the little shop down the road a few times, went to a neighboring resort for burger night, played some Texas Hold'em and other cards after the kids went to bed, and of course to the ice cream shop I think 3 times for an after supper treat!

Below are pictures of Gracie playing in the sand and water. She absolutely loved the sand. She just kept picking it up and throwing it back down... and then had no fear of the water... just walked right in.

It's been awhile again...

Ok, I am going to attempt to download some of the lastest picture of the Malecek Family. As I mentioned in the earlier post, we have been enjoying our pool very much, especially with the hot weather last week. This Saturday we go on on our vacation to Lake Vermilion (northern MN) with my parents and my sister Christy and her gang (husband and 4 kids!). We are all sharing one cabin so it could be interesting, and Christy's youngest is just about 6 wks old! Actually I am not worried at all, and am very much looking forward to the vacation and spending time with each other. I guess I should give an update on the pregnancy. I am now 31 weeks... 9 weeks to go and I don't think it could come fast enough. It is getting hard to sleep, hard to go from lying down to sitting to standing, my feet and fingers are getting a little swollen, and the heartburn is starting to kick in. Other than that everything is great! It actually isn't that bad, but being pregnant sure makes a girl appreciate her "normal" sized body, no matter how much you really don't like it when you are "normal" sized. All the check up with the doctor have been uneventful. Heartbeat of baby has been 140's. Activity of the baby is abundant... I don't think it ever sleeps and it definitely knows how to kick my bladder! I am getting pretty excited to hold a little newborn again. Gracie has grown so much in 15 months! It seems like forever ago that all she did was just lay there and we were thrilled when all we got out of her was a giggle or a smile.

It has been awhile...

Well, it has been awhile since I wrote anything or posted any new pictures to the blog. I am sorry for that, but life has changed a little. The beginning of June I started a new position at the hospital in the Diabetes and Nutrition Center. The position goes along with my Master's degree of being a Clinical Nurse Specialist, of which I am very excited for. I really didn't think I would get a job using my Master's education for a year or two. Living in a rural area the jobs with this title are not quite as available as in the metro area. Anyways this job was posted in late April... so I immediately submitted my name and resume... they call for an interview shortly after (2 interviews actually), and then mid-May BINGO I have a new job offered to me before for I had even actually graduated! Besides this going along with my new degree the job is also more clinic based, which means no weekends, no holidays, and mostly hours during the day. Monday's I work until 8:30pm because we have a class we teach... but for surely no overnights! and better pay! It doesn't get much better! So why this effects my blog posting is because I usually did all my picture and computer stuff during my on-call shifts working in the Recovery Room. I live to far awayfrom the hospital (we need to be within 20 minutes when on-call) so I would always stay in a sleep room at the hospital and oftentimes I would only end up working a hour or so... which meant time to do other things without those extra little hands of my darling Gracie getting in the way. Right now I have my Guard weekend which means I am at a hotel for the night and therefore I can do some of my picture stuff without those two little hands getting in the way! About my new job -I very much like it and am certainly learning many new things about the outpatient world of treating patients and about the disease of Diabetes. I will tell you more in a different post... on to more exciting things like pictures....

We have has some visits from some of Gracie's cousins in the last few weeks too, which is a delight. The weather has been fairly warm... so a common pasttime is enjoying time in the swimming pool. Gracie likes the pool and as you can see in the pictures Willie gets pretty excited to. He has never deliberately jumped in, but in his excitement he did fall in! He immediately swam towards Marty to save him! Then the rest of the pictures are cute ones of her just being goofy. Her Grandpa Joe and Grandma Betty says she is such a clown... and I tend to agree. She will make the funniest faces and do the funniest things and make goofy noises sometimes. Makes me wonder where she learns all this from. I say her Dad or maybe at daycare, certainly not her Mom. Her latest thing is she has learned how to give real kisses with puckering of the lips and the smacking noise and everything. Again it is so precious.

OK now I am kinda upset... after I get done typing this all out and want to upload my pictures to the blog something is not working right am I could only get the one picture to come up!!!!! How upsetting. So I have decided I will still post this (hopefully that works!) and I'll try later to post the pictures. Maybe the wireless connection is bad.
