Sohre Farm Fun

On a random Sunday in October I went to my Mom and Dad's on a Sunday with Gracelyn and Zach.

See everyone was going to be out there and Uncle Darrin was home from D.C. to help Dad with some field work.  We also wanted to get that combine ride.

Above we have Zach's BFF Joe-Bear.

The afternoon started out with some pumpkin picking with Grandma.

They sure had A LOT of pumpkins!!

Then over to the farm we go to get our combine ride, but unfortunately the Combine was "broke down" and no ride was going to be happening on this particular day.

The SOHRE farm is where we were! The best place on Earth if you ask me!!!

Even though I have my own home now and my own farm (with Marty for 10 years) - I will always find more peace, joy, and comfort on the farm I grew up on.  I wonder if that will ever transition? Good childhood memories and a loving family -  that is what it is all about.

So no combine ride, but that doesn't mean we can't play on the combine with our cousins, does it?

Evening activities

Evening activities : Jared loves to play with these blocks and make trails or something.

I think it is pretty neat, as he does a great job organizing by color and size.

Then it is reading time before bed.

Jared doesn't sit to still for stories so he just keep building with his blocks.

Then the kids go to bed and Daddy starts playing with the blocks :)

I think sometime he has as much fun as Jared.

He has shown the kids all about making garages in the block creation for the cars, trucks, and tractors.

Jared loving his sweetcorn. He literally would eat and eat and eat sweetcorn off the cob!

The kiddos love to help bake, especially when hold the mixer is involved.

Jared got a case of Croup this fall - so on with the nebulizer we go. 

He tolerated it pretty good. We had to do this with him when he was 4mo old. He had gotten RSV.

Gracelyn Homework

Miss Gracelyn's homework she brought home from school.

The assignment was to write a list - she wrote a list of her Cousins.

I thought she did a pretty good job. She wanted me to write the correct spelling next to her attempts. 

She tells me she started with the girls and then went to list the boys.

Gymnastics

Community Ed hosted a gymnastic lessons this fall.  It was for about 4 or 5 weeks, 3 times a week for 1/2 hours. Gracelyn and Zachy were able to be in the same class so I signed them up this year. It is a lot of extra chasing for us since we don't live in town - but I am so glad I signed them up.  They had so much fun!!

They got to practice hand-stands, summer-saults, cartwheels, the uneven bars, jumping on the vault, and the balance beam.

Combine Ride 2013

This years combine ride was on the Sohre farm - with a RED combine.

Last year was on the Malecek farm - with a GREEN combine.

We ventured to my Mom and Dad's during harvest.

Gracelyn and Zach and myself got to ride with my Uncle David and enjoy the wonderful world of harvesting corn.

I think it is one of my most favorite things to watch. Brings back so many childhood memories.

It was a beautiful day. We spent probably close to 2 hours in the combine with my Uncle.

I don't really talk to him much, so it was a nice chat for me too and the kids enjoyed the ride.

I think my Uncle enjoyed having his great niece and nephew along too.

I am partial to the RED combine... that is what I grew up with.
