Sohre Family

In the middle of June we had the pleasure of Darrin coming home to MN for a short visit. He had a college friend getting married, so he came for the weekend.

Luckily we had the chance to the get the family together.

Above we have the immediate family and Mom and Dad.

It was nice visit... to bad we couldn't do this once a month!

31 weeks!

On the final stretch... 31+ weeks.

And I am spending the week in San Diego.

Adorable Sleeping Kids

 I can't quite remember how this happened that both kids were in Marty and I's bed snoozing in the morning. 

Usually no kids sleep with us. If they come in to our room during the night, we generally take them back to their own beds, so we must have been really tired or lazy to let both of them stay in our bed.  Usually it is Zach that wonders in about once a week.  Gracie almost never does, so this is strange that she is her in our bed.  Even stranger is that they are still sleeping to let me take these photos.  These kids are always up.  They never sleep in! Even on a Saturday when there is nothing to get up for, sure enough 6:30am they are both up in our bedroom ready to go. 

Anyways as I was downloading the camera I came across these photos and could not resist sharing.

They are just so innocent and peaceful and lovable and adorable and sweet and I could go on for ever!!

To think we will be having another one.  Good thing this isn't a nightly event... or Marty and I would have to go sleep in the kid's beds when they come in.

Haircut

A few weeks ago we went got the 'summer haircut' for Miss Gracelyn.

Her hair was getting so long.

It grows so fast so we chopped it quite a bit, probably 5 inches or so.

She was all for this and now looks so cute and sassy. 

It is much easier to wash, comb, and put in the ponies.

And best of all, Gracie loves it.

Cabin Fun Already

 Fun at my Mom and Dad's cabin has already begun.  We have been out there twice. 

When the cousins come too... it is nothing but good times.

They have a golf cart which pulls around this red wagon.  I don't think the kids ever let it stop.

Over Memorial day weekend we did our first stay-over at the cabin, which was Saturday and Sunday night.

The Cornish's stayed over too. The cabin was a bit snug, but we managed and of course the kids thought it was great.

We did some fishing and... caught some fish... even a few we could keep!

Mostly it was just little Sunnies, but it provided for great entertainment for the kids.

Uncle Jesse caught this little Northern. We threw him back.

We'll catch him again next year.

Joe, Gracie, and Zach at Duck Lake Park.  It is just a mile or two down the road from the cabin.

 In Mankato there was a carnival going on, so Sunday afternoon of Memorial day weekend we went to catch a few rides for the kids.

 Then we ate at a restaurant in Madison Lake called 'The Landing.'

We were having such a fun day.

Such a fun weekend and such fun times at the cabin.

Hope we get there a few more times this summer.

Too bad we live 1 1/2 hrs away!

Fun with Sebastian

Cousin Sebastien came to stay with Grandma Betty for a few days a couple of weeks ago.

This means Gracie and Zach get to play with him a bit.

They played ball and blocks and much more.

 My kids love to give hugs (especially Zach) and at first Sebastien was a little scared of all the hugging... but he soon gave in.

Mom and Dad 40th Wedding Anniversary

June 4th 1971 to June 4th 2011

5 kids, 11 3/4 grandkids, 3 homes, a couple of different jobs, several dogs, lots of vacations, lots of smiles, an abundance of laughs, a  few hard times and a couple of tears =

40 years of Love and Marriage

 

That's my Mom and Dad... 40 years!

Wow, that is a long time.  To celebrate all of us kids and spouses (Darrin in spirit) got together to go out for supper at a Japanese Grillhouse in Mankato.  It was such a great time.

 We had lots of good food and good entertainment... the fire was just a bit scary!

 Then it was time for some Japanese Shots (for those of us that can do alcohol!)

 And more good food.

 Then out to the lake for a Pontoon Ride and a few more drinks.

 We had some Champagne and did some toasting. Dad first and then as a family.

 Treasured moments and good times that is what marriage is all about. 

I have learned many things from my Mom and Dad about Marriage.  I have learned that it is about sticking it out through the hard times, making the most of the good times, and always treasure each other and the life you have created together, because without your companion in life, nothing else is really worth it!

Thanks for setting the great example Mom and Dad. Mart and I have just about 8 years in, we have had 2 homes, we have just about 3 kids, just one dog so far, we have had a few different jobs (or I guess I have), some good vacations, lots of laughs, lots of smiles, and yes a few tears... I hope in another 30 some years when we celebrate our 40th we are as blessed as you are (we certainly are on our way!).
