October 1st, 2013 my Zachariah turned 5!!
I can't believe it has been 5 years since I was in the hospital 8 days over my due date having my second child, where just 15 1/2 months earlier I had had my 1st baby.
Time flys. My babies are growing up.
Well the request for this little soon-to-be 5 year old was to have a birthday party and the person that NEEDED to present was cousin/BFF Joe - also know for some reason as Joe-Bear.
Joe-Bear doesn't live very close to us, so I was kept trying to suggest other friends or cousins who lived near by to have a party with, but nothing would do for little Zach. He would listen to my idea and then ask "Will Joe-Bear be there?" then I would say "No" and then he would say, "Nope I don't want to do that"... unless Joe-Bear was there. It is soo cute, they truely are BFF's at this point in their lives at 5 years old. I guess it make sense since they are only 5 weeks apart in age.
So I talk with my sister and we come up with a plan. We are going to meet kinda half-way in New Ulm on Sunday before his birthday and do a birthday party. I thought maybe a park and then pizza. She suggested bowling. Bowling it was. The kids had a blast. Above is Joe-Bear and Zach cheering as the ball goes down the alley.

Then a couple days later on Zach's actual birthday Grandma Betty made supper and cupcakes for the birthday boy!
This is what my Zachy has accomplished in year FIVE:
- Attended Sunday School at Gloria Dei.
- Attended Pre-School at St. John in Redwood Falls - road the bus with big sister Gracelyn - an hour ride in the morning and 45 minutes in the afternoon. He went 3 days a week.
- Learned to ride bike with training wheels and by the end of the summer WITHOUT training wheels.
- Passed Level 1 swimming lessons.
- Jumps off the diving board at the RWF's pool with no fear!
- Swims in the pool without a life jacket or arm floats.
- Got glasses in January 2013 - and loves them - never once has he complained about them.
- Can play catch and hit a ball with Daddy.
- Can pump on his own on the swings.
- Gets dressed all by himself.
- Brushes teeth all by himself.
- Takes a shower all by himself.
- LOVES ice cream and anything sweet.
- LOVES mac-n-cheese.
- LOVES noodles and always requests to have noodles at supper.
- Is a pretty good eater, not to fussy.
- Plays and plays and plays with his BFF Joe-Bear.
- Stayed overnight by himself without Mom/Dad/or Gracelyn at a cousins house.
- Had his kindergarten shots and didn't even cry!
- Is a sweetheart and always wants a KISS and a HUG from Mom and Dad at bedtime or when we leave in the morning.
- Can buckle his own seat belt.
- Can't wait for movie night on Friday and Saturday nights.
- Still takes a 1-2 hour nap most days.
- Likes super-heros, tractors, and dolls (per influence of his sister!)
- Can write is own name (Zach).
- Can count to about 12.
- Can say his ABC's and almost can identify them in print (he misses a couple).
- Is excited about his new brother he is getting soon.
- Calls's Grandpa Sohre the "tickle Grandpa"
- Very much likes to go on ranger rides with Grandpa Joe.
- Pretty good at sharing - usually will give in sooner than Gracelyn.
- Plays and fights with his big sister all the time.
- Is very excited to be in Kindergarten next year!
- Has the nicknames of Zach, Zachy, Zach-a-ronie, Zach-attack, Zachy-Wacky (from Grandpa Sohre)
