LakeShore Fun.

Sunday we spent with my family out at the new family cabin (compliments of Mom and Dad) at lake near Mankato. I hadn't realized we were going to go swimming so I did not pack swimsuits, but of course when kids see water and all the other cousins have their swimsuits on the Malecek kids have to join in. I couldn't resist taking some of the pics below.

First we tried Zachy in just his shorts, minus his diaper.

Without the diaper the shorts kind of sag... My new plumber boy!

Then we came up with borrowing some underwear from the Cornish boys.

Now Zachy has speedos.

He could care less what he was wearing, he was having a blast, as his sister was too.

She started out in cloths too and then the Daly's furnished a swimsuit.
After swimming, the two cousins took a spin in the Cornish Mustang.

A fun day at the lake always ends with grilling some burgers and dogs and chowing down.

So after my Mother's Day posting I came to the realization I don't have many pictures with the kids and I together or the kids and Marty together. I don't even have one recent picture of just Zach and I... I think the last one was when he was a wee little baby! That is so sad. I was always taking pictures of Gracie and I at that age. Poor second kid... already getting deprived. So the kids and I spent some time with the camera the other day.Gracie actually took this picture of Zach and I. I thought she did pretty good for a 3 year old!

Then of course, if Mommy has a picutre with Zach, then she needs one with Gracie.

Zach's new thing when he crys real hard is to cover his mouth. It is so funny and adorable it is hard not to laugh.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful mothers.

It is a true blessing to be able to have the role of being a mother. Today was my 3rd Mother's day. I thought in honor of this lovely day I would search my files and look for those digital photos of those Wonderful Mother's of mine.

The photos are in no particular order... just as I found them. I thought I would leave them this way in the post instead of rearranging them... it is kinda fun to look back.

I have learned from this task that I do not take near enough photos of me and the kids (I have nothing recent of Zach and me) or of the Grandmas and the kids or of me and my mothers (I have none of me and my mom, how sad)! A big part of this has to do with the fact I am the one usually taking the pictures, but I have to make a better effort of getting these photos. These kids are growing so fast and making so many changes. It is always so fun to look back at photos and reminise.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

Pittsburgh Marathon 2010

During the Christmas holiday's last year Marty's sister, Lisa, in casual conversation told us her and her husband Mick were going to run in the Marathon in the city they live in, Pittsburgh, PA. I thought about this for a little bit and thought that would be a great accomplishment. I have always wanted to run a marathon, now was probably a good time to do it. I told Marty my idea and he got on board also. So 18 weeks after training for this big event, we finally accomplished our goal. I crossed the finish line after running 26.2 miles in 4 hours, 40 minutes, and 48 seconds.

Marty crossed the finish line after running 26.2 miles in 4 hours, 29 minutes, and 47 seconds. Lisa and Mick also crossed that finish line too!

We all got medals after we crossed the finish line and are so proud of our accomplishments. This was a first time Marathon for Lisa, Marty and I. This was Mick's 4th. We are so glad we are done and were able to finish. No major injuries, just a few blisters, and many sore muscles. Throughout the entire race there was a little rain, luckily it never down poured, so the rain actually kept us a little cooler.

Tonight we are all walking around like little old men/women... all the leg muscles are aching. We have decided we can't consume enough of that lovely drug ibuprofen/Motrin with a little Tylenol on the side!

We can now cross "running a marathon" off of our lists of life goals! At this point we are thinking this is the first and last marathon we will run... time will tell!

Easter Fun.

I know Easter is past, but I wanted to share some of these cute events.

The Easter festivities started out by the ritual of dying Easter Eggs.

The kids very much enjoyed it, although Zachy thought it was more fun to put his hands in the cups rather than the eggs... but we managed. Gracie had lots of fun with the eggs and did very well.
Next up was the visit to the Easter Bunny. On the Saturday before Easter the community center in town had the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Gracie is old enough this year so her and I went and took along cousin Rochelle and Aunt Denise. It was a good thing Rochelle came with, or I don't think Gracie would have sat on the Easter Bunny's lap... it would have been the Santa Clause adventure all over again.

She wasn't quite sure what to do with the egg hunt, but managed to pick up a few. We had a blast and look forward to next years hunt.

We tried to get a photo of the Malecek grandkids... but this is almost impossible with the little kids. When one is cooperating it is a sure thing that the next is screaming! Oh, well, someday they will all stand still.

He has figured out if he finds himself a stool, such as the booster chair, he is a little taller and then can reach the candy that is on the table! Pretty smart boy.
